Greatdays meet a Dizzy Blonde and Old Tom!
On Wednesday, 6th April, twelve Greatdays’ staff from all departments were delighted to have been invited to the Visit England accredited Visitor Centre at Robinson’s Brewery in Stockport. Arriving en masse the group were welcomed by their guide, Barry, Stockport born and bred and extremely proud of his heritage which tied in nicely with the ethos of the brewery itself which has been a family business for six generations. Barry had a wealth of knowledge about the history of the brewery and took the team through all the processes that must occur before one is able to sup the golden nectar. He talked about how they choose specific ingredients to create the flavour and aromas of their different ales. The team learned about the science and technology behind brewing and about their award winning beer.
Our naturally inquisitive bunch asked questions throughout the tour and these were all answered simply and with humorous anecdotes. A short walk across the yard were the resident shire horses, Hopick and Wizard. The brewery tour took about an hour but staff were conscious that there was a lot of walking and even more stairs! Thankfully the voucher which allowed staff to get three 1/3rd of a pint samples to taste were given out at the end of the tour so there were no slips, trips or falls. For those that didn’t want to sample the beers there was a soft drink option or the opportunity to pick up a bottle.
A fabulous time was had by all and young Charlotte even managed to go home with a Dizzy Blonde and Marina with Old Tom!
