Coach Operators receive German VAT reclaim boost from Greatdays
UK Coach Operators operating tours to or through Germany are receiving a pre-Christmas boost following the successful reclaim of German VAT by Cheshire based tour wholesaler Greatdays Travel Group.
Tours that include accommodation and other services in Germany are subject to German VAT legislation. In 2015, Greatdays introduced a unique, free German VAT reclamation service for clients buying German services that started after 1 January 2016. Greatdays prepared all the relevant paperwork and submitted it to the German VAT authorities and now thousands of pounds have been successfully reclaimed and returned to the coach Operators.
Martin Slater, Greatdays’ National Sales Manager, says: “Coach Operators running continental European tours already face a whole host of administrative hurdles to ensure full compliance with the laws of each country they visit. For some coach operators, these administrative requirements were prompting them to question whether they would continue to run a continental tour programme. We took the decision to introduce the free German accommodation VAT reclaim service to ease some of that administrative burden.
