A fascinating long haul destination without the jet lag!

Cape Town is simply magical.  With direct flights available from the UK and only an hour time difference, this exciting long haul destination is accessible for short incentive breaks.  At the foot of the iconic Table Mountain, Cape Town is a vibrant city.  Bursting with culture and surrounded with stunning beaches, this city has so much to offer incentive groups.

Why not start your South African adventure by ascending Table Mountain and taking in the whole view?  While you sip champagne at the summit, take in the spectacular views of the cape.  Then explore the city with a guided tour and venture to colourful Bo Kaap to see a different facet of Cape Town.  Later head to the elegant V&A waterfront and enjoy a dinner of ostrich!

You may think you have to head to rural Africa to experience its wildlife, but this coastal city is abundant with marine species.  You may even bump into penguins on the beach. Snorkelling with seals is highly recommended as these curious creatures swim up to people and are keen to interact.  They swoop and dive in an exciting display.  This is a delightful experience your staff are sure to never forget!

Cape Town is an ideal incentive destination.  With incredible food, overflowing culture and the possibility for a wide range of exhilarating activities, you can truly reward your staff.  Cape Town is a place where memories are made and a team travelling there together cannot help but grow closer.

Suggested Activities & Excursions

Get Acquainted

Get to know this wonderful city with a guided walking tour of the city centre.  Learn how Cape Town was colonised, the importance of trade and how apartheid affected the city.  Why not view the city on a hop-on hop-off bus tour, where an audio guide will tell your delegates all about the city and the surrounding area. Perhaps venture to Bo Kaap where the houses have brightly coloured facades, and discover the fascinating heritage of this area.

Table Mountain

Table Mountain is certainly the symbol the Cape Town viewing the city from the mountain is a necessity on any visit.  Perhaps take the cable car to the top or for the more energetic, why not hike?  There are a range of routes: one is fairly direct and takes around an hour and others meander, allowing you to see more of the mountain.  Take a stroll around the top of the mountain, to watch birds flit and dassies frolic.  You can even challenge your staff to step outside their comfort zone with a daring abseil down a part of the mountain! Why not have a champagne reception at the summit.  With all your staff gathered to admire incomparable views of this wonderful city, this is a fantastic way to begin or end your tour.

Alternatively, get your team up early to hike Lion’s Head for sunrise and enjoy spectacular views of Table Mountain and the Cape in the morning light.  This short hike is an incredible way to start the day!

Robben Island

This cultural excursion appeals to everyone.  Admire Cape Town’s skyline as you cruise across the Robben Island and visit the prison where Nelson Mandela was held for 27 years.  Tours of the prison are led by people who were imprisoned there themselves so can attest to the daily life and conditions.  Hear about the struggles of political prisoners on this evocative experience and see the current residents of the island: African penguins.

Gastronomy

Cape Town holds a host of culinary delights.  Perhaps head to the beautiful V&A waterfront to enjoy a seaside dinner of game meats. Sample unexpected cuisine such as ostrich and springbok.

Enjoy the exotic flavour of Cape Malay food, or go a step further and challenge your staff to create their own meal with a Cape Malay cooking experience.  In the fascinating and colourful area of Bo Kaap, dive into this culture with an authentic experience.

Marine life

Why not treat your staff to a wildlife encounter? While South Africa is known for its safaris, this coastal location is abundant with incredible marine species. Activities range from visiting the penguins at Boulders Beach.  They scuttle right by as you relax in the sunshine.  Why not enjoy a barbecue with a penguin view?  Head out to sea to encounter magnificent colossal whales in Hermanus, who peer curiously at your boat.  Those looking for a thrill can plunge into the deep for a shark cage dive.  Snorkeling with seals is an activity which appeals to everyone.  In Hout Bay, take a dip with these curious, friendly creatures who happily approach you for a closer look.  Don’t forget to get a video!

Wine Country

Explore the beautiful wine growing region of Stellenbosch and unwind in incredible scenery whilst sampling South Africa’s wines.  Perhaps hop between different wineries, searching for a favourite wine or host a sunset dinner at a picturesque vineyard.  Be sure to sample pinotage, as this is the only wine grape endemic to South Africa.

Perhaps head out to Franschhoek, where a disused tramway has been repurposed to transport you between vineyards.  Your staff can spend the day on the wine tram leisurely moving between wine tastings at different vineyards, moving at their own pace with all the organisation of transportation taken care of.  Scenic rides on the tram and tram-bus, interspersed with relaxation and tastings at world class wineries is a fantastic way to help you staff unwind as you show your appreciation for their dedication.

Take to the Skies

Cape Town offers plenty of options for exhilarating, unforgettable experiences.  Why not paraglide over the city? Experience the freeing sensation of flying as you soar over this magnificent city.  You can also skydive or take a helicopter tour to admire the southernmost country in Africa from an aerial view.
